NEMRR weekends have a ton to offer; great races to watch, riders to learn from, vendors, and a sense of paddock community unlike any other. Super Street allows track day riders to participate in our weekends without having to build a "full race" machine and in an atmosphere that is more about having fun than full competition. A rider will participate in two practice sessions, a practice race and then a "final" race. These races are strictly in the spirit of fun, and riders can always start in the back of the grid if they choose. This is just low-pressure fun with your friends - more of a half step between track days and racing! There will be morning classes and coaching for all participants before and between practices.
Sunday Option. NEMRR is now running a Sunday Super street program. For only $65 you can stay and practice on Sunday and get an extra race. Open only to Saturday participants, and you'll be all done by 12:30pm. We hope to see you there!
Who can attend?
The main requirement to attend is simply that you've done a track day (with Penguin on Friday or with another organization) in the 1 year period before your first event. For riders coming from other organizations, you simply need to bring proof of your track day completion. Former expert racers are not allowed. Former Novice racers may participate after a 3-year hiatus from racing and former Amateur racers may participate after a 5-year hiatus. NEMRR will "bump" any riders who do not fit the spirit of this class into the Novice racer ranks.
Bike preparation is the same as most track days other than the need for a front number plate (white plates and red numbers). Rider equipment requirements are in section 3.
Participation on Saturday is only $155 and includes a weekend pit pass for NEMRR.
License & Transponder
Licenses are 1/2 the cost of a standard NEMRR license and can be upgraded to an NEMRR license at any time after completion of a Race Licensing School. Prices drop as the season goes on - $67.50 before 7/1, $50 before 9/1 and $32.50 after 9/1. Riders will get also free transponder rentals (used for timing and scoring) for 3 weekends, and after that can either get their own or rent one from NEMRR.
All riders need the same level of equipment. A Snell or ECE rated helmet that was made no more than 5 years ago, a full leather suit with armor and a back pad, over the wrist leather gloves and boots (work boots are OK to get started).
Motorcycle prep is the same as for a track day. Here's the shortlist to get you started. 100% oil tight, good tires and brakes. Need to remove or tape over all street gear (lights, directionals, mirrors). Super Street riders should use white number plates (12"x12" is ideal) and red numbers. Super Street riders can choose their number. If another rider already has your number we will have you add a letter suffix (typically "X").
All new participants will register for their first weekend at the racetrack. We STRONGLY recommend attending a school or practice before your first weekend (typically on Friday). Worst case, arriving for your first weekend on Friday by 5 pm will go a long way to making your first weekend smooth.
First time participants who do not ride in Friday may join the current Penguin Track Experience class at the end of the day and we'll walk you through the process of getting set up in the system and registering the first time. There are vendors at the track with all you need to fit your numbers and transponder.
Your first three Super Street weekends comes with free transponder rental (required for tech and used for timing and scoring).
This will be your first stop after registration. Chuck Brighenti is the chief tech inspector (racer #89) and pits right next to the Garage 7 tech area. Please feel free to swing by early in the day and have him take a look at your bike. He'll be happy to help you with friendly advice on all you need to do to pass tech.
Bring your registration paperwork, helmet and fully prepared motorcycle (with numbers and transponder installed) to Garage #7. You can tech on Saturday morning, but it's best to get it done Friday afternoon (up until 7 pm).
Gates open for people who are riding on Friday with Penguin at 5 pm on Thursday and are open from then through the end of the weekend on Sunday.
If you are riding on Friday on your first weekend, garages are free and available to all students. The garages are generally fully rented for the season by racers, but their rental officially starts on Saturday and they are accustomed to sharing with new riders on Friday.
Most riders share them with other riders and split the cost, and if you know an NEMRR racer they'll likely invite you to join them. Many riders simply ride out of their trucks and trailers and put up canopies in the camping area. Camping for NH events is payable to NHMS at the sign-in window and is $25 for the weekend (and gives you access to power). All riders and spectators purchase pit passes for the weekend, and this is automatically charged with your first race entry if you sign up online or is collected at the gate when you sign in.
Registration and tech open at 7 am, and 2 practice rounds start as early as 8 am. Arrive early!! There are 9 practice groups (Super Street Riders are Group #5A), so you'll want to pay close attention to the schedule as some groups are combined during the first round. Super street riders have their first class on Saturday at 8 am and their second class immediately after their first practice. They must also attend the main riders meeting during the lunch break
The Super Street practice race will be immediately after the final Group 8 Expert Practice of the day (generally around 11 am). The final will be posted on the regular schedule and Super Street riders are invited to the trophy presentation after the final race of the day (the Michelin/Motorace $1500 Dash for Cash).
